When I ask about people on welfare I get told they dont make enough money and minimum wage needs to be raised so people can live, then when I ask about minimum wage being raised and people not getting government help, I get told that they just dont hand out welfare to people who make minimum wage.

Wont you people make up your minds?

Both minimum wage and welfare should be eliminated.

Most on welfare utilize welfare as a method out of poverty and into a productive life for their families. This can include education or skills training, WIC and food stamps. Bear in mind welfare is a way OUT of poverty and not for a long term situation nor should it be used as a crutch to maintain a lifestyle where work is an option.

Raising the minimum wage, while giving the individual the appearances of more money actually places them in a higher tax bracket. Once this happens they are at the "break even" where they must choose between welfare or the additional money. Companies must absorb the brunt of a higher minimum wage by charging more for their goods and services (nothing's free). Therefore, we end up bearing the burden of cost for a higher minimum wage through consumption. And, since the low income worker must consume to live, they are challenged to keep ahead.

The key item for success is a flat 15% consumption tax across the board. You eliminate the current income tax system (and substantially downsize the IRS), incorporate an equitable tax on everything except staples and WIC items and tie the US Budget to the gross domestic consumption rather than the gross domestic production. States in turn would share equally in the taxes gathered, but property and inventory taxes would disappear as would the tax accountant and legal business. At this point, I, as a business owner, when paying someone an hourly salary would be incurring a substantially reduced operational cost. I could then pass that additional profit back to my employees, who are, in turn, paid as an example $15.00 an hour and receive $15.00 an hour.

Change the taxation system to change the welfare state.

well... you seem to be quite confused...

let's start from the top...

I've never been on welfare, but from what I understand... most single people can't really get it... so these may be the people saying "they just don't hand out welfare"

but if you have kids... then you can get it, even if you have a minimum wage job... these are probably the people saying "minimum wage needs to be raised"...

you see... everyone is not the same and the government doesn't look at everyone the same way... so there is no way to "stop people's story from changing"... because everyone has a different story and the government looks at different people differently...

which I think makes sense to me...

Hello. My wife asks me why I listen to Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reill. I tell her it is because I need a good laugh. I cannot believe these are same people who want the income tax done away with but in the same breath want the worlds largest Army. How does one pay for it?

I guess everyone knows about our debt being purchased by the Chinese and these who speak up against them are convinced by lobbyist that it is OK. One day these two guys had guests who told their listeners about the dangers of the Chinese that their spies and lobbyist are everywhere. We catch them and our politicians who are their friends get them off. Two days later, these same two guys have different guest who say China is our friend; open up the markets and unions are OK there, but not here.

Last year they bitched about law suits claiming that made insurance go up and that in turn made medical expenses rise. Then a few days later, their next guest revealed if physicians actually policed themselves law suites would be few and far between. Then the two of them ragged on people for trying to have the physicians do just that and that it is a violation of their civil and constitutional rights. However today, we find medicinally expenses are sharply increasing because physicians and hospitals want more than 400% profit.

They bitched saying people taking bankruptcies were ripping off the retailers buying plasma TVs, vacation and diamonds then taking bankruptcies. With the new bankruptcy law we are finding that 40 % of bankruptcies are because of medical issues; another 43% because of lay-offs and reductions in pay. Studies have shown repeatedly welfare cheats make up less than 1% of the users. My mother is 93 worked minimum wage her whole life had nothing and never will but these two hosts and like minded right wingers say let her get a job. The medium wage for a family of four is now $ 24,360 these guys spent that much in ONE MONTH having their pools cleaned.

Mexico is still on the verge of a civil war over class and I think before I die you will see that here. God Bless You and the Southern People.

I don't get it...You are against minimum wage and against welfare? You are for both? I don't understand...how 'bout we stick with the agenda that Clinton set up where there are time limits and restrictions on welfare? It has been working well.

Hi Sway, This is what you call the run around. That's how the welfare does. They will help people who's family after family are on welfare, and think nothing about it.But the people who really need the help, gets the slap in the face.
