They don't have 3 second memories. Many test have been done to prove that, even Mythbusters did an episode that proves their memories are longer.

I DONT KNOW! my goldfish had a better memory then that cause when he saw the can of food he want right to the top of the tank

Actually tests have proven they have longer memories then 3 seconds. They have memories of up to a few days. Scientists did tests with them in a mazed water tank.

i think somebody just made that up that doesnt like goldfish,
i have raised goldfish for 35 yrs and i believe that they do have
memories and recognize people and are just as intelligent as other fishes

they don't have basically 3 2d ideas its a lie i very own goldfish and the reality is obtrusive. in addition they say fish don't have emotions so as that once you filet them alive they might't sense it, No they only don't have vocal cords so as that they might't scream out in discomfort and the monster doing it would not ought to sense undesirable approximately what they have performed.

If i remember correctly its because they don't have the part of the brain that we do that is used for storing memories.
