Why does everyone spell it HAMPSTER?!

No, housing hamsters and rabbits together is not a good idea at all...for so many reasons!

Hamsters are very small creatures and generally prefer living on their own. They can easily slip through small gaps (cage bars or poorly secured lid) so it is best that they are kept in tanks. They have short life spans (3 years at the most) and eat specially formulated hamster food. They sleep during the day and do not like to be disturbed. Many hamsters are very timid, particularly when they are first purchased, and they will not hesitate to bite if frightened.

Rabbits on the other hand are several times the size of hamsters, even small breeds. They can live up to 10 years. Rabbits can be quite lively creatures, running and jumping around their enclosure. They need a lot of space and plenty of toys / handling to keep them busy. When they are frightened they may stamp their hind feet (hamster could easily get hurt if it was in the way). Females in particular can also be quite temperamental and territorial. Rabbits also have a very different diet to hamsters; while hamsters will have a few nibbles and then store food away, rabbits tend to spend most of their day eating and will enjoy a wide range of treats from carrots to bread. Again, their cereal-based food is very different to that of hamsters.

If the temperature gets too cold, hamsters will go into a form of hibernation and it may be very difficult to wake them from this. They are indoor pets and should be kept in a quiet room away from the tv / radio.

Rabbits are much more hardy animals and can live outdoors, but they will need a warm and sturdy hutch with lots of bedding and this should be placed somewhere sheltered from the wind and rain.

The housing and food for both these animals is very different and they are not at all suited to live together.

It is possible for guinea pigs and rabbits to live together, but this should be carefully monitored as not all pairs will get along.

No. The rabbit is far too big to live with a hamster. The rabbit will likely sit and then suffocate teh hamster. Plus they both ahve very different nutritional requirments.

I assume a "hampster" is a hybrid between a hamster and a hamper. It would be very unwise to keep such creatures confined with any other animal, as they would swallow it up in the basket bit.

No, hamsters are very territorial, they are known to attack and kill male hamsters, or other species on there territory. Rabbits are alot more friendlier and prefer the company of other rabbits, but they also get on well with guinea pigs (not sure I spelt that right, but you know what I mean)

I wouldn't recommend it with hamsters or guinea pigs. Rabbits can get very boisterous and can easily hurt/ break a little animals bones. I t really isn't worth the risk.

right here canines and cats are not bought in puppy shops; you purchase them in shelters. yet right here the rabbits do stay in truly a small exhibit. It saves money notwithstanding the rabbit remains in a position to flow round notwithstanding it would want to't get any excercise. i'm satisfied that the puppy shops right here do no longer purchase from turbines. They purchase animals from those who's pets gave start and want some position to furnish their children away.

Why on earth would you want them too?

Not recommended, someone is going to get hurt and if the hamster is a standard hamster the rabbit will loose......

Absolutely not.Hamsters are solitary and rabbits should live with their own- preferably the opposite sex ( both neutered to avoid babies ofcourse)
It would be cruel to attempt to mix the two creatures as it is not natural and would result in fighting etc...this you can be sure of.

i dont think its a good idea u put them 2gether as the rabbit is a lot larger and might kill the hamsters!!! and the hamster could get frightened of the rabbit and might just die or have a fit!!!
