Hi!
During the 80's Chicago was not as progressive as say New York. Bears were hot and Bulls were just getting good. Oprah was just starting out and there was no Bloomingdales or Macy's. The music scene was hot since Chicago was one of the progressive cities inviting progressive and alternative bands. There was a black mayor and a woman mayor. Just like any other U.S. city a lot of cheesy 80's stuff was going on. Like neon clothing and soft rock one time hitters. Chicago was first stop to many immigrants. Many stayed because of job opportunities and some did not. Over all it was a decade of possibilities and a good place to raise a family.
