It really depends on what you are willing to spend, your gaming habits, and if you own a console now.
The first "next-gen" console that was released was the Xbox 360. It has a price point of $300 for the "Core" version (minus harddrive and wireless controller) and one for $400 which includes the missing items above. The $400 system is the only one that is backwards compatible with the original Xbox games right out of the box. If you want to do so with the "core" system, you have to shell out for an add-on harddrive. There are a fair amount of games for this system, and with the back catalog of Xbox games, you have a great selection. The Xbox 360 also allows you to connect to a HDTV and have great high definition quality. There is also DVD capability right out of the box.
The PS3 will be released next with a price point of $500 and $600. The system does come with a Blu-ray HD DVD player, which by themselves are still over $1000, so that is a big plus if you have a HDTV. Speaking of HDTV, the system is also designed to play games in HD, just like the Xbox 360, assuming you have a High Definition TV. The Playstation 3 will also be backwards compatible with the previous Playstation games right out of the box.
The Wii will release a couple of days after the PS3 and offers an innovative controller that might make it appealing to a lot of people. The price is also something that people will like. At $250 it is the cheapest "next-gen" console coming out. But with that price, you are sacrificing a DVD player and HD output. The Wii is also backwards compatible with all GameCube games and can also use the controllers from the GC. It has the capability to download most games from the NES, SNES, and N64 along with some Sega games. The controller is the most innovated feature with this console. It is motion sensitive and will allow developers to forgo confusing button combinations in exchange for simple hand movements. It should make for some fun game play.
All consoles will have the capability to connect over a network for multiplayer games, with the PS3 and Wii offering their services for free and the Xbox 360 charging.
So it really depends on what type of gaming you plan on doing, what console (if any) you have now and how much you plan on spending.
Me, I'm planning on the Wii. I like the innovative features and I also own a GC which allows me to play my collection of games that I already own. Not to mention, I don't need another DVD player, and I don't own a HDTV...

Wii and the Xbox 360. Both have nice and clean graphics. Xbox 360 has a price tag of $300 and $400, while the Wii will be the cheapest at $250. Games are great. The Wii games are what will make a difference based on the Wii Remote and how functional it will be. PS3 is not worth the money and interest.

do you choose a device it somewhat is relaxing now or are you a "intense gamer"? I easily have performed all 3 and it easily relies upon on what you're in seek of to compliment it somewhat is terrific. i for my section could get all 3 if funds allowed. i could ought to declare till some extra beneficial video games come out for the Xbox 360 and PS3 i could heavily bypass with the Wii. I admit the snap shots are lacking yet i've got no longer had as plenty relaxing enjoying on any device as I easily have on the Wii in some years. they have a competent blend of video games. I admit it felt humorous on the start with the controller yet one interest of Wii activities replaced that. Zelda is yet another great interest for it. i've got no longer performed a interest on it yet that i did no longer think of develop into in ordinary terms a sprint diverse despite if it develop into diverse in a chilled way. i could supply the Wii and hazard yet in the top i could maximum probable think of in the subsequent 2 years a PS3 could be my selection.

The PS3 will be able to do more considering that you will be able to play games from the original all the way up. WIth the others there aren't that many games. Also with the PS3 you can play DVD's and other things and it will be cheaper and it will have great graphics.
