Are you washing it in hot water? Sometimes that will make sweaters/sweatshirts shrink. Try washing in cold next time. Check the care labels, possibly it isn't meant to be washed at all. My mother wouldn't let me have ANYTHING that had 'dry clean only' on it!

Does the label say 'Dry Clean only' - if so you should dry clean it only. Otherwise you can wash in cold water, stretch and lay flat to dry. I usually keep my clothes on top of the dryer while its running so that they dry faster.
Hope this helps

Instead of washing it yourself, take it to the dry cleaners. It will not shrink anymore.

When it is wet, stretch it each and every way until it is 'blocked' to the right size and then dry it on a flat surface.
