Doctors nowaday say it's okay to have 1 or 2 cups of coffee in the morning, so I don't see how a cup or 2 of tea would be an issue. I have been told though that HERBAL tea is a big no-no during pregnancy. Everything in moderation is the key when you are pregnant! Good Luck!

I just had a baby and went through the same thing. Not having caffine really is a downer! My doctor told me I could have 1 caffine drink a day, but too much of it could cause SIDS, sudden infant death syndrome. I bought the Lipton decaffinated instead, it tastes the same and then you can have more than just one cup. Just know that even decaf tea has some caffine in it, so don't drink it all day long. I don't know what Chai tea is though. You aren't supposed to have herbal tea, so it just depends on if it's black or herbal. You should sign up for baby weekly emailers. Google it. They are sending me emails every week to this day about what my baby should be doing.

Not sure waht chai tea is. I drink regular tea (not green tea, so I think it's black). I use decaffinated. You can have about 3 caffeine drinks a day.
But I have learned from giving blood that tea makes your body not absorb iron as well, so be sure to take your vitamins!!!

I don't think a cup of tea will do anything, but I have heard that caffeine during pregnancy can be linked to things such as ADD. I wouldn't make it ( or any caffeintated beverages) my only beverage of choice.

Health Benefits of Green Tea
Green Tea has high healing properties. It has finally been concluded that it is a source of antioxidants, polyphenols and vitamins and minerals. Some of the important benefits are as follows:
* Green tea has anti cancer and anti mutagenic properties. Japan, one of the highest consumers of tea, has a low cancer incidence, which substantiates the fact that teas can prevent cancers.
* Green tea is known to control and lower blood pressure. It is also important in controlling diabetes. In Diabetics, there is a high blood glucose level, which causes harm to various organs in the body. Thus the blood sugar regulation is vital for longer lifespan.
* Cholesterol, as everyone knows, is the root of many evils. It builds up in the artery walls causing obstruction in the blood flow leading to conditions like atherosclerosis. Green tea drinkers are proved to have a lower incidence of fatal heart attacks also.

some herbal teas can be bad I'm sure if you went to the consumer site or rang and ask them then you could find out for sure.. I did that with my favorite cheese ( I was not sure if it was classed as soft cheese or not) and they said well we haven't heard of it being bad but we also haven't ran test to prove it isn't... that's just to save there **** but make of that what you will. they will tell you if there has been any cases...
