I've been playing WoW for nearly 2 years - can't stop. Its something I enjoy doing. Is WoW addictive? Is it possible to be addicted to a video game?

I think it can be addictive to the right person or personality. I played WOW initially when it was first released for about 3-4 months and then got bored with it. I am playing again (because of friends) and usually play a total of 7-10 hours per week. I don't think that is very excessive, but some may.

It's a fun game! So long as the game does NOT cause you issues in other aspects of your life I don't see a problem.

Which realm are you on!? I've been playing on Turalyon (Alliance) for a little over six months now. Can't say I'm not addicted but I do go through phases where I can not play for days or a week. There seems to be a cycle of doing quests, grinding, instances, hanging around the AH etc. It is fun but I have plenty of other (non-gaming) interests so I don't worry.

I don't think its that 'addictive'.

I've been playing since release and I have no problem setting the game aside for other things. I can, have and will stop mid-raid if something else shows up. Its not an issue to me and my guild understands that people have lives.

Its only an addiction and a problem when you rid your life of EVERYTHING just so you can play. And when you neglect everything and everyone just so you can get that last tier 2 piece.

I have been playing WoW since it was lunched in Europe. WoW is the best game ever, hence I now do great efforts to reduce play time. I am 27 and I feel that I loost alot of things in life while spending so much time playing. I managed to say goodbye to my PvE / PvP guild and now I am at the phase of playing as much as 4 - 5 hours of instanced PvP / week.

My advice: WoW is the gratest game. If you wanna start playing it, try avoiding the addiction and have alot of control over the time you spend in front of the computer.
