The highest individual by a player in England is: 189* by Viv Richards. The innings was rated as the best ever in history of Cricket, which was recently overshadowed by Herschelle Gibbs´ innings of 175 (against Australia, at Johannesburg, 5th ODI, 2006). The match was played at Manchester, in year 1984, 31st May. It was the 1st match of the three (3) match ODI series. After winning the toss, Windies decided to bat 1st. And they were 166 for 9 at one stage. Richards started to build a partnership with Michael Holding (who is now a TV commentator). And the last wicket´s stand was 106 (which is a all time record partnership stand for 9th wicket, of 106). Windies ended up for 272/9. Richards scored 189* off 170, including: 21 fours, 5 sixes. Holding could only score 12 of the 106 run stand, which he added with Richards. West Indies won the match by 104 runs. Joil Garner (West Indian bowler) took 3 wickets for 18 runs in 8 overs.
Note: It was a 55 overs match.
