It depends where you work.

If you work in the food industry, then yes it's best to put up your hair due to hygiene reasons. People don't like finding hairs in their soups or gravy when they're eating. Also, hair can get very dirty and if it touches the food that you're making your hair might touch the food and the dirt from your hair could land in the food.

If you work as a cleaner, then yes do to hygiene and cleaniness reasons.

If you work else where, yes and no since it depends if it's a requirement in your workplace.

this is a health concern for people who are working around food. I believe every state has a law that hair must be contained either by a hairnet or a cap or hat. Only the hair around your face has to be contained in most instances. However, for the safety of their employees most chain resturants has a rule that the cooks must wear a hairnet. This keeps all hair away from cooking fires and protects the cook. If the resturant has a rule that all must wear a hairnet, then you must wear one to keep your job. I believe that a hairnet would come off if all the hair was not contained. The answer to your question is "yes" if the owner says you must wear one, then you must wear one.
