Since the moderates abandoned the Democrats they have taken more control of the destiny of the Republican party. The old guard Republicans still have some say in the direction of the party, but the religious right who brought Reagan to power, is all but forgotten.

The classical definition of conservative, small government, free market economy, is all but forgotten by the Republicans.

The true conservative party is the Libertarian Party. They are all for classical conservatitivism and civil rights.

Well, at last someone who really knows what a conservative is. How refreshing. The Republicans will never field a true conservative because of the Christian Right which rules the ballot box for them. Thus they are committed to laws against abortion and for prayer in school and public money going to religious charities and schools. Republicans haven't had a true conservative since Goldwater and they haven't even got a concern for conservatives since they figure they haven't got anyplace else to go. Funny how the wheel turns, now we have had fiscal restraint under Democratic leaders and a distinct lack of interest in legislating private behavior under Democrats. And don't let anyone kid you, your taxes are going up with the next administration because that's when many of Bushes tax breaks for the rich are coming due. Along with the bills from this war. Then the Reps can come back with the 'news' that the Democrats raised taxes. What a sick bunch.

i'm a Libertarian who many times regards the Republicans because of the fact the lesser evil. i'm thoroughly unimpressed by utilising the present presidential field. Romney is the comparable as Obama, heck, Obama plaigerized his well being plan. Bachmann/Palin have not have been given the mixed psychological colleges to alter a lightbulb (the two desire coaching creationism in colleges). Gingrich become Da guy interior the mid-90s, yet i don't know this new Newt who favors ethanol mandates and different government tinkering interior the financial gadget. i admire Ron Paul as a congressman. My libertarian coverage positions run closest to him, yet i know Paul isn't tempermentally suitable to being President. Ron isn't a compromiser or a pacesetter. he's the strict person that makes the toddlers consume their broccoli. i opt for him as a congressman, yet he could make a bad president. nevertheless it hurts me to assert it. i think of Tim Pawlenty is the appropriate determination, yet Pawlenty probable would not have the air of secrecy to win a race.

I sure hope so. But in this time of huge government can I even exisit and if 1 does how can he/she do anything to shrink the government when in reality there won't be any help from either of the two major parties to do this. Only in lip service never in reality does any politician talk conservatism.

Actually, I'd like to see one of those in any party. I can't see myself ever voting for a republican, but if I saw a republican candidate who was willing to balance the budget and keep government out of personal lives I would have to vote for her or him.

Excuse me? Think back to Clintoon, you remember that cartoon character, right? With all his morals and such??
If he had done his work, bin Laden would never had hit America, in as much, since it is history now...President Bush was just finishing up getting his cabinet together, and just started 'becoming a great President', and BAM! We were terrorized by thugs. Do you think we should have sat back and smoked "used" cigars like Clintoon did, talking to the terrorists, holding their hand, asking them, Oh please, don't do that again??? Since, actually, before, 1979, terrorists have been planning 9/11 and other attacks on American soil. Republican morals are right on. If you're concerned with wire tapping, don't talk to a terrorist. If your concerned about spending, don't fight the enemy on their soil...let them come here and kill you and your family. If your concerned about 'small' government, with out strength and integraty, with no plan other then to tax you to death...vote for a dem. Otherwise, let me ask you? Remember all the Kennedy's antic's? Remember all the dems voting for the war before voting against it? Blah Blah Blah...Dems have no plan. Thank GOD Republicans stand up for you and your family...so it costs money. But hey, gas prices are down, and the market is up. President Bush gets credit...it's on his watch. You think libs care? No...because they care about nothing but their own pocket book, and scandles that mean nothing. All of theirs go away...but I REMEMBER THEM ALL......VOTE REPUBLICAN if you care an iota for the American way...or be taxed to death and lose your home, your savings, and probably your life.

I hope so. I can't take much more from the RINOs (Republicans in Name Only) or the "Compassionate Conservative" moderate wing run by GW Bush. Contrary to what the left paints him, he is a moderate in moderate clothing. But then they believe anyone to the right of Nancy Pelosi is a Fascist.

Of course they will have a conservative candidate, but he/she will call him/herself some snazzy new name, like Bush called himself a "Compassionate Conservative," while he was campaigning, then after he was elected he turned out to be an extreme right wing NeoCon.

The Conservatives of today stand for massive domestic spending, record deficits, hate speech and hate legislation, scandals, creepy sex, highway robbery, and intrusionism into every aspect of Americans personal lives.

Not very patriotic, huh? American voters now dont think so either.

So,no. Republicans are not even conservative.
