If you are based in Naama Bay, you'll have lots of entertainment options within reach - cafes, pubs, restaurants, shops etc; plus your tour operator can provide you with details of excursions and activities (snorkelling, camel/jeep safari, quad boking, bedouin dinner evenings, trips to Cairo etc) - so you need not be stuck with the hotel for entertainment options.

If you want an all-inclusive with lots of options in-resort, I would recommend the 4* Hilton Sharks Bay, which is north of Naama Bay towards the airport. The hotel facilities are good and the standards generally pretty high. You can catch a taxi into Naama Bay; it should take about 10mins and won't cost too much.

If you'd like to stay in Naama Bay, the Hilton Dreams or Fayrouz resorts are good. The Sonesta Beach and Sonesta Club are attractive price-wise, and the Sofitel is a very nice hotel. These are all generally sold on a bed & breakfast basis, but as mentioned above, if you're in Naama Bay itself you'll have plenty of eating & drinking options close by. The all-inclusive option is often good value for money, but you'll get more of a feel for the resort and the people if you get out & about, and more variety. Plus it's generally cheap to eat out. There's loads of tourists about - all ages, from all over - so you should feel safe wandering about on your own. In any case, the Egyptians are generally very hospitable, friendly and welcoming people.

Do scuba - you will LOVE it. It is the best thing there by far. If you have time get a PADI scuba certificate before you go as you will be able to do more diving while you are there. It is also worthwhile booking a mini-cruise to Cyprus as there is a lot to see there too. I would consider getting a trip to see Cairo and the famous landmarks of Egypt - pyramids etc as these are unique and beyond comparison. Have a fantastic trip!

I stayed at Days Inn "Gafy Resort". It is only 3 or 4 starts but wonderful place and service. I think it has less starts because it does not have a Casino. right on the beach, so private and friendly and also not expensive at all.
