I live with a host family in Colchester, UK, and there is no internet system; therefore, I would like to use wireless internet connection. I would like to avoid using the phone connection because I cannot use the telephone system in the house. I would like to know some wireless system or good provider which can be usefull. Please, let me know.

When people talk about a wireless internet connection they're generally talking about an 802.11 connection, which will require you to use the phone line. It's basically just like regular DSL, except instead of plugging a modem into the phone socket and into your computer, you plug a 'router' into the phone socket instead, and the router sends the signal to your computer wirelessly.

There's only two options which could be useful to you. There's such a thing as satellite broadband, but the kind you'd require is very expensive - and you'd need a satellite dish. A few big companies are trialling next gen affordable sat service, but that kind of service requires a phoneline for your upload. So that's probably not viable for you.

Your other option is a 3G card, which operates at a reasonable speed. If you're willing to take a contract out you can get unlimited 3G service and the required data card from vodafone fairly cheaply, about £20 a month I think - www.vodafone.co.uk. Other providers offer 3G service but in terms of data vodafone are way cheaper than anyone else right now.

I really suggest you talk to your host family, explain that you just need to plug a router in and it won't interrupt their phone service at all. It'd be much easier and cheaper and the service would be better.

You can use a 3/4G phone.
A satallite is out because that needs a land line for the up link.

The cheapest way would be to pay for your own second line from BT, and put a wireles router into the master socket so you don't have to damage the families decoration in thier house.
