Actually I've had to wear a hairnet at times where I work. I work in manufacturing. Sometimes we make food products and at those times we have to wear a hairnet. I'm sure most aren't thinking of hairnets in my line of work but yeah we have rules that require them as well. Yes you have to have ALL your hair in it. Otherwise there isn't much point to making people wear it. For the record by rules there is a certain amount of facial hair that is allowed but not alot.

I work in a bakery and have to wear a hair net. We are required to make sure that none of our hair is sticking out. Although this is not enforced. Many women leave there bangs out or just don't care about having all their hair covered.

MOST OF THE TIME IN FOOD INDUSTRIES YOU SHOULD WEAR ONE, OR A HAT. i'M ALMOST 24 AND I HAVE WORKED IN PLENTY OF RESTAURANTS THAT IF I AM COOKING, CLEANING, OR TAKING ORDERS THAT I PUT MY HAIR IN A PONYTAIL THEN A HAT ON TOP SO IT DOESN'T LOOK SO UNPROFESSIONAL
HOPE THIS INFO HELPS YOU OUT
