Running with Scissors by Augusten Burroughs. Everything he writes is AWESOME! It's a memoir.

I like fantasy and scifi, try "The Deeds of Paksenarrion" by Elizabeth Moon. It's an heroic epic with everything. "The Talisman" by Stephen King and Peter Straub is another. And "Imajica" by Clive Barker. Those last two are horror stories about aternate earths. the "Otherland" series by Tad Williams is excellent, if you're up to reading a long series, about several people who become trapped in an experimenal virtual reality universe and go up against the creators of this virtual reality who are trying to become immortal. Much vivid horror, and Tad Williams has the most amazing imagination of any author I have ever read, once i got tired of Anne Rice novels, that is.

I can suggest more than you have to time or space to hear actually.

Personally, I do not read what you listed as your favorites much.
so Im going to have to go with the old standards on horror. Stephen King (Although I honestly don't see the attraction.)

For humor. Try Running with Scissors. That book was strange, tragic, supposedly true and larger than life histerical, in a sad and unfortunate kind of way...

Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris is a hilarious book full of a bunch of true short stories about his life. In the same genre, there is a great book called Why I'm Like This by Cynthia Kaplan. It's the same format- a person's memoirs told in a series of hilarioous short stories. Also, I love all the books by an author named Elizabeth Berg, who mainly writes novels about women's life experiences (divorce, aging, losing friends, etc.) but she writes in such a real, relatable way.
Also, right now I'm reading I Know This Much is True by Wally Lamb, and it is a REALLY long book, but it really sucks you in after about the second chapter.

Here are some horrors for you http://www.amazon.com/Wow-Top-Thrillers-for-2006/lm/R112NJMQKVC953/ref=cm_lm_byauthor_full/104-2051434-0433522 - I don't read them.
A true story that I enjoyed was Gloria Vanderbilt's memoir, "It Seemed Important At the Time" and lastly, it wasn't really a COMEDY, but it was very entertaining: gods in Alabama by Joshilyn Jackson.

Truman Capote's "In Cold Blood" is a fabulous real-crime story. I've also got a book called "Swift Justice" by Harry Farrell on my to read list that I've heard good things about. True *and* horrific.

And for a good laugh, read "Good Omens" by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.

When you say "true stories" are you talking about non-fiction, memoirs, or realistic fiction? If you mean realistic fiction, I suggest either Gilead or Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson. It's not light reading, but it's more 'real' than most memoirs and has a beautiful use of language that's hard to find.

Three of the funniest books I ever read were MASH, MASH Moves to Maine, and MASH Mania. A trilogy, the first being the inspiration for the movie and eventually the show. TONS OF FUN!
