i have a 36c03u gas valve the pilot will light but the valve will not open to light the heater?

probly need new thermocouple which is the thing that the pilot heats & opens gas valve only if pilot burns.

when you hold the button you can light it.
when you let go it shuts off or stays on (pilot)
off= replace thermo couple
on= try wiggling the valve lightly as you attempt to turn it.
