I, too, am shy and people tend to call me stuck-up. I just never knew how to talk to people. I've found, over the years, the best way to have a conversation when you are shy is to ask questions about the other person. People like talking about themselves so if you ask them a question they could go on and on. Eventually you'll ask just the right question that interests you, too.

Mayb u can join a club or u can start ur own club.
If u start ur own club u can find ppl who r interested in the same things that u r.
U can start of with - What r ur hobbies?
Do u lik 2 read, write, dance, play chess or checkers, etc.

its ok..take it slow..i experienced the same problem as u when i first started college....if u want, u can try going to events or join a club or society..its a great way to meet new people..if not, u can just try smiling to schoolmates first..sometimes ppl r afraid to approach u coz u dont smile..if u start smiling, then hopefully someone will approach u..good luck!

you have to be sure you are putting yourself out there. Smile and speak to people that opens alot of doors to communicating. Try someone in one of your special classes(art, gym, etc) maybe they are in the same classes as you are because they enjoy the same things you do.
