right click on empty space on the desktop.
select properties >select Appearance > Click on Advanced button.
At this location you have the option of deciding color of each element on the desktop.

go to control panel on the start menu, then select apperance and themes. then click on chnage the computers theme. this enables you to change the taskbar n start menu n overall theme to many different styles and colours. hope this helps x
