"Recovering" alcholics typically turn back to the bottle in times of extreme stress, and with the War in Iraq, North Korea, a ballooning deficit and historical low approval ratings that are likely to loose his party both houses of Congress ... and then that pesky Dick Cheney calling all the shots ...

You think he's back to drinking? It would explain his slurred speech and inability to concentrate.

Jeez, I hope not, the backlash would be unacceptable. The laws are already screwed up, forcing people into RELIGIOUS programs for behavioral problems. Check this out: http://news.usti.net/home/news/cn/?/world.law/2/wed/be/Uus-woodry.Rwzx_FA9.html

Given how bad he's been screwing up, he might claim to having gone back to the bottle whether he has or not.

What is it in this country that people can commit crimes, engage in poor behavior, then claim "The devil drink made me do it!", and expect to be forgiven and often is?

I was an alcoholic for years, it never once made me want to molest ANYONE, let alone boys, embezzle, become a racist, or want to declare war. I don't understand how someone can claim to be a Christian and be a warmonger at the same time, drink or no.

Alcohol lowers inhibitions, it doesn't change someones core being and you don't have to accept someone elses version of God in order to quit drinking.
