Does anyone know how to beat a toll violation incurred on the bay bridge?
We're driving a rental from Los Angeles to check out UC Davis this past week. Living in Los Angeles did not prepare us to anticipate a toll bridge. My wife and I are both dissabled persons so neither of us carry extra casgh in the car.
So as wee approach the toll booth we are frantically looking for loose change, anything to give the toll person, we'd forgotten about the $2.00 in half dollar coins I'd put in a special compartment
for just such an occassion. I'm a TBI surv! go figure.
So we're given a paper that states that we've committed a toll violation and are allowed to pass. The bigger problem is that we're in a rental and cannot afford to pay the rental Co. fees on top of the amount on deposit for the week's car rental.
So" Here's my question"
"Can we mail the city of SFO a M/O for $3.00 and call it even?

No, do not send $3.00 to San Francisco City Hall. They will not be able to help you because they don't have jurisdiction over the matter.

You'll need to file an appeal with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), which administers the toll violations:

If this appeal fails, and you still believe your disabilities prevented you from paying the toll, you may be able to challenge the decision in Traffic Court. But this means coming up from Los Angeles for a hearing, and that might not be feasible.

It's very easy to tell if your car has fast-track or not. There's a small plastic square thingy that's glued to the inside of your windshield. If nothing like that is there, you don't have it.And if you set off the camera, you'll get a ticket in the mail, plus the cost of the toll.

Sadly it's doubtful that you will be able to just pay the $3.00 toll. My husband accidentally got into the wrong lane once and found himself in the "Fastrack Lane" (You are supposed to have a prepaid toll device attached to your car). The traffic was too heavy, and it was too late to change lanes. He received a ticket in the mail for over $100. What seemed evil though is that it didn't get sent to us until about 3 months after the incident. We had thought that the mistake had been excused.

In Indiana the officer who wrote the ticket, be it an electronic ticket or in person must show up at court. I have a lawer that will delay out each court date until they dismiss it. It could take 20 delays but the officer will end up not showing up and it will be thrown out. god love the law baby.

ok whoa first things first what the HECK were you doing in SF bay bridge? you can't possibly go to UCDavis from LA and cross the bay bridge, that's ust dumb. I think you mean you crossed the Benica Bridge.....that's the only bridge that is on the way up north.

sorry you wasted time crossing the bridge for that!

I don't think you have a chance to beat this.
You'll need to pay the fees and chalk this up to a very expensive lesson.
