i replaced power supply. i heard emachines t2542 is common for the mobo to go out. i wanna test out the mobo and cpu to see which it is. since it isnt the power supply or ram. there are no burn marks on either. is it very rare for them to go out with no burn marks? if it shorts then i thought it would atleast have some mark. i took out the cpu and it looks mint! where can i buy a new one 2.5 ghz or above cheap? [H]ard forum.com is a good place. any others?

Usually a faulty mBoard or CPU will cause series of beeps. I would personally have blamed the power supply since you didn’t mention any beeping. But sine you say it isn’t :(

Can’t you have it tested by your PC provider?

If you don't get any activity - no fans or even get the monitor to pick up, it might be a power supply.

If you get to the BIOS screen, it might be the mobo.

If you get fans turning on but nothing else, it might be the CPU.

Why..Why....Why do overclock. I did it in basic terms for exciting yet did not observe any ovbious outcomes. in basic terms run it the place it belongs and you will have not any issues....you in all probability fried it, and for why?
