I have an iMac and the only disadvantage I have with it is that I can't upgrade the video card. Even though its a pretty good one I have been able to play every game that I have at full settings. So, there are not many disadvantages to it. Also. its really not that much more expensive then its PC equivalents.
Lets take a look at the 17 in. iMac and an hp d4650y series.
I configured both systems as close as I could.
hp:
2.13 Ghz Core 2 Duo
250 gig HD
1 gig Ram
Wireless LAN
NVIDIA GeForce 7300LE, w/ TurboCache
17 in monitor
WinXP Pro
$1429
iMac:
2.16 Ghz Core 2 Duo
250 gig HD
1 gig Ram
Wireless LAN/Bluetooth
ATI x1600 w/128 dedicated memory
17 in Display
$1374
now if you add in all the mail-in rebates from hp the price go to $1289 so it comes out a little cheaper but thats only after waiting 6-8 weeks for the mail-in rebates

Price is one, although not as big a one as you would think. The problem to me is that they only have the fairly mid to low end iMac and then the ultra high end G5. There is no middle ground, like a Dell XPS 400, a good gaming computer, but not an ultra high end one. Lack of compatibility is one, altough I suppose with the ability to run Windows on one that is not such a big deal. The fact that they don't fail is NOT an advantage despite what Mac people tell you, Macs have problems, we have a Mac computer lab here and not a day goes by without one of the 20 iMacs failing for some reason. The OS seems to be targeted to casual users, if you know what you are doing on a computer you will feel constrained by a Mac, at leat in my opinion. Lastly, I just find them ugly but that is a personal opinion.
Also, to the last poster, that may be true, bet head over to Dell and configure that computer and it will run you $1044, with a 19 inch monitor.

none at all. Apple is the best computer you can buy. they're not really all that expensive considering the quality of the system. their OS is much better than Windows anyways, even though they're now Windows compatible, i dont recommend installing it, it slows your computer down a lot. they're amazing and incredibly easy to use, just watch one of their commercials, makes you not wanna use a PC again.
oo, 1 thing i just thought of, im 18 and i like to play video games, and they dont support many big title computer games, only certain ones. kinda sucks.

in case you detect that a software won't run on the Mac working gadget, you need to use BootCamp, Parallels laptop, or VMware Fusion to run abode windows on top of your Mac. to purchase a greater much low-priced Macbook or different Apple product you are able to bypass and purchase it on the hyperlink in this positioned up and customize the computing gadget. Apple products are quite consumer friendly. i'm a Mac and a laptop. wish I helped. :)

higher price tag, although you can now run windows programs as well, you should know that you'll need to buy a separate license for that operating system.
