I think you are talking about clock speeds - the newer CPUs and newer Ram sticks have faster clock speeds and so are much better. They also tend to get hot and so the CPU has an heatsink with a fan to cool it. Voltages have been dropped on CPU's to reduce heat dissipation too.

The CPU is the Central Processing Unit or the Processor, it processes all information in the computer. The RAM is the Random Access Memory and stores information to be processed (currently running programs, documents that are open, etc). Similarities are that the CPU and RAM run at the same speed...that's about it.

A cpu is a processor chip. this is no longer on the factor of being ram. Ram is memory it somewhat is used to shop issues temporaily like a huge scatch pad that gets flashed after each and every maximum of minutes. in case you dont understand the version between those 2 you mustn't be enjoying video games like crysis and RTCW

CPU - Central Processing Unit ( Heart of the computer system). It control input signal (eg. Keyboard) and output to the external devices (eg. monitor).
RAM - Random Access Memory. This is a temporary memory buffer for storage of data. When the power is off, this memory will be gone.
Both have different functions so there is no similarities at all. Hope this help.

CPU is the whole thing, RAM in consisted in the CPU. CPU is the one which your put your discs in, the place which you switch on your computer and the place that contains all your informations. RAM is the speed of how your computer can work, for example, a 1.00gb of RAM will make your computer work faster than a 512mb RAM.
