There are several ways to connect these drives, all of which should work well.
The one main rule is that the Bootable drive (C:) needs to be set to master or on the master postion on the IDE ribbon if your computer supports cable select.

After that it's pretty much open to how you want to do it. If the Main Hard Drive (HDD) and CD are already on an IDE cable you can leave them alone and put the new Hard drive on it's own IDE cable set to master.

So I`m assuming you have a ribbon with 2 connections. Depending on what you are doing=I`ve done all ways. On a normal operating computer. Operating System Hard Drive=Master / Secondary Hard Drive=Slave / CD=Slave

Make your main hard drive master on the primary cable. Make your second hard drive master on the secondary cable and the CD-ROM the slave on the secondary cable.
