The absolutely easiest way is to break them up, remove the paper, and arrange in muffin tins. Then melt in the oven at about 200 degrees Fahrenheit for 5-8 minutes. Once they cool, simply pop them out. They are lots of fun to color with.

get a cheap pan and a glass or metal bowl to fit into it at a dollar store, as you will not want to use it for anything else.
Make a double boiler. Get some hardening clay & make crayon forms. Or find them at a craft store. Bigger forms gives you chunky crayons that more/bigger chips can fit into.
Break the crayons into smal bits. I suggest you put one color to melt, & break up the other colors to break into the molds.
If you melt them altogether, you will have mudd crayons...
I got my son a crayon maker machine, but I don't know the name of it now.

I don't use mine for crayons, but to color homemade candles. But the melting process would be the same.
Place in a small saucepan over very low heat to melt. Watch constantly, cause it can burn easily. Then pour into a mold (I think they have crayon molds at Hobby Lobby, that's where I get my candle molds) and let cool.
Hope this helps!

the best way to melt them is to put the peeled crayons into a tin can, on a cookie cutter, in a pot of water about half way up the can, on a stove. The hot water will melt the wax in the can. You have to have a mold to pour the melted wax into afterwards, though...?

Melt them down and make candles out of them. Or, soften them in the microwave and make sculptures. Anything you can do with wax will work. Have fun!

Silly old me! I tried to make candles from crayons once. They would not even light, much less burn. Then I realized that the candles were all fire-retardant. Well DUUUH on me.
