The kind of albums that let you take out and add pages yourself are the post bound, ringed, and strap hinged. The ones that are pretty much "set in stone" are the wire bound albums, since they're kinda difficulct to add and remove pages. My personal favorite is the post bound, because the album is held together by 2 screw-together posts, and you can easily add extenders to make the binding able to hold more pages. Here's one website that explains just a little about albums:

You can add pages to the post bound albums but I do not like the way they open. They hump up and do not lay flat. I like the strap hinge kind of albums like creative memories makes. There are also some cheaper ones you can get in the scrapbook stores that are made in china. The extra pages from the creative memories and the made in china ones are interchangeable. I do a lot of double spread pages so it is important to be able to view the two pages as one. These albums lie flat when you open them.

Yes, you are right - post-hinge allows you a lot more flexibility in adding pages to your scrapbook. Once you place layouts in a strap-hinge album, that's pretty much what you are stuck with. Plus some strap-hinge albums like Creative Memories don't really take 12x12 paper. You have to pre-trim any papers you don't get from them. My favorite albums by far are made by Forever Yours. I'll post the link.

Below is an outtake from a comprehensive Scrap-booking On line Catalog. The item they're referring to is "Post-bound" with 10 included sheets, and with more sheets available. More sheets would do you no good if "post-bound" didn't open up to allow more in. So, I think Post-bound means you can open and close at will...
Our 12" x 12" fabric-covered, postbound albums come with ten 12" x 12" page protectors. Additional sets of ten 12" x 12" page protectors sold separately below.

Yep, they are both the same. Most scrapbooks have sheet protectors to ensure that your pages are safe and secured. Just be creative with it and you will get the hang of it. As for print, you can always print your own or order reprints. Its the matter of how you want it to look like. And you can always go to an art and craft store which has many scrapbooking supplies to choose from. And some of them, like AC Moore, even have pages display so you can get an idea on how you want your pages to look like.

The two "movable" page type albums I like the best are the strap hinge and post bound. I have to admit though, that Creative Memories is my absolute favorite. They have a lifetime guarantee and I really like how they lay flat when you open them. Here's a link to their website and another company's stuff that I like, Close to my heart...
