I'm not quite sure what you are asking. No society has to allow abhorent behavior. We have to be a society of laws and live according to an acceptable code of conduct or else we would have anarchy and chaos. A completely tolerant people would allow the bad people to walk all over them because they are only expressing themselves and that is okay. Well it is not okay. We can be tolerant of idiosyncracies but not of abhorent behavior. The question is where do we draw the line? Talking loudly on the bus may be something we can tolerate but abusing the fellow passengers we cannot. Maybe we can tolerate cell phones in the restaurant but abusing the waitress is unacceptable. Maybe five miles per hour over the speed limit is acceptable but street racing is inexcusable. You get my drift. Tolerance can only go so far before society as a whole has to say enough. We have rules for a reason and if we want an orderly society, we have to abide by the same.

yea actually tolerance means accepting people and permitting their practices even when u disapprove of them. but more deeply, it is enduring, allowing different peoples behaviours, characters, faults, e.t.c and trying not to feel offended or even show that u are offended. such an action is justifiable because without it there wouldn't be peace amongst people.there would be fighting. according to the nature of man there is a limit to which he can tolerate somethings. it is adviceable that u actually know when u are exceeding your limit and just try controlling yourself or actually leave that vicinity.

Tolerance doesn't necessarily mean acceptance; nor does it mean approval. It also doesn't mean silently allowing unethical behaviours to continue without voicing an opposing opinion (tolerance should work both ways - right?). God bless. ~Nise~

No one needs to tolerate your intolerance or care about your acceptance or lack thereof. This does not mean you can't be as obnoxious as you like or be an exhibitionist about your ignorance.
