I read about a way to get rid of slugs out of a garden from a monthly Farmer's Almanac-type magazine several years back...
The way, it said, was to take grapefruit halves (after the pulpy part has been eaten) and make a "house" for them, if you will. Make an opening wide enough for a slug to enter and place these where you find them. Slugs tend to be nocturnal, so when daylight is approaching, they will find a nice, dark place to hide while the sun is up. Check these little "homes" in the morning, and dispose of the little slimy things until you see no more of them.
It also said to bait the "homes" with beer -- that's right, beer! The magazine said that slugs, for some reason, can't get enough of the stuff.
I have never tried this myself, so I cannot guarantee success. However, what could it hurt?

They leave a silvery trail if you follow this you can see where they are coming in. They can get through quite tiny holes so these have to be sealed. Use a silicon sealer or if ti is a bit hole some filler or cement. Slug pellets round the house may be a good idea but I don't like the sound of salt because you would find a slimy mess where the slug has been

Put salt around the window frames and on the doorstep daily.
You may want to line slug pellets along the outer wall of the house totally.

I had this problem recently and it totally repulsed me. In the end salt all around the edges of the kitchen sorted it. It took a while though as you may have to deal with any eggs they may have hatched inside your salty fortress like we did!! It was so gross. Gone now though!

You can buy a special notice: 'No Slugs'. Don't stick it too high up, though.
