There is no such thing as the greatest pianist that ever lived. I'm rather suprised that people seem to have the mindset that one person is better than another. I think they are all highly talented beings. They grew up in different surroundings under different circumnstances, which I'm sure, has affected the ways in which they write. And to be quite honest they have completely different styles of writing and I think that is what sets them apart from one another.

Well, the answer is possibly Franz Liszt; the one pianist who completely revolutionised piano-technique and brought incredible vistuosity to his audiences. In fact, it is said of Liszt, that he could make ladies in the audience swoon.

I think is Chopin. His compositions are thrilling and you can actually imagine him composing and playing those unimaginable notes on the piano during his time. Although Mozart was a genius composer, I guess Chopin took over with his bombastic pieces.
