Use lemon juice from your local grocer. pour it into the machine and even into the bleach and the fabric softener receptacle. Then run the machine through a cycle. Works like a charm!

Baking soda will do the trick if you run the machine a few times with it, but the thing is you may have a problem with the way the water is draining out. It may be recycling the water instead of draining it. You should have this looked at, you don't want to keep washing your clothes in the same water over and over again. That's like mopping with dirty water. Try the baking soda first if that doesn't work then call someone.

Check to make sure it is emptying of water properly. You may have a bigger problem. The baking soda one is good though. Or more bizarly an onion cut in half - this helps with paint smells as well. Make sure you check the machine out though. You don't want to mask a bigger problem.

You can use white vinegar about 1 cup in an empty load, then run it with regular detergent empty load again. Don't rule out a leak under the washer that might have caused a mold effect though.
