Frequently.
I know that many of the styles are not really meant to be worn in the "real" world, and only parts of it gets used in the "normal" fashions that people wear. But that doesn't make some of the styles any less hideous to me.
As for the women, it doesn't matter how great you really look when you have 5lbs of makeup caked on your face, and it's the wrong colors or style for you. What works under the lights of a runway doesn't work in a close-up picture. On the runway, they exaggerate things so that people can see the girl's features even from far away. When you are close to them, it looks very harsh. So transferring that same look to the pages of a magazine just looks overdone.
I think that most of the fashion industry needs to stop trying to out do last season, and stick to what works for women. If they stopped compeating for the most shocking style, and concentrated on finding the most realistic styles, I think more women would be inclined to buy and wear current fashions. So many women don't even try to look nice all because the stylish fashions are too odd, or just don't look nice on anyone but the 5'9" and 100lbs models.

I don't tend to look at the models because the pictures are usually to full of other more interesting stuff, like grass. But yes i do believe the fashions are sometimes so hideous that you have to wonder how much those models get paid to even wear the crap. Sometimes it's not too bad but even worse than the look is the price. Cosmo and Vogue and Elle all picture fashions ranging from 50 dollar skirts to 1500 dollar bathing suits. I don't know about you but paying 5 bucks for a magazine is strecthing it, there's no way I'm going out and buying any one article of clothing for more than 500 bucks. It's crazy

Yes, I do. Most of the time it looks like the clothes have just been draped over the model because she is too thin. Their faces also look hollow and when they are captured in the occasional black and white photograph the hollowness of their faces looks even more frightening.
