absolutely ...they are doctors of veterinary medicine. We get this question a lot at the vet hospital and many ignorant people think that they aren't, but they sure are. Vets have to remember more features and diseases than human doctors because there is such variation between species. Don't get me wrong human doctors are great too ,but vets are definitly doctors.

An animal doctor, my dogs vet first trained and graduated as a MD, then decided to go in to vetenary medicine, so she is both an animal doctor and a human doctor.

I would say yes, a doctor for animals and the occasional human.
My mom was at the vet's office having an allergic reaction to a wasp sting and they called the vet out to take a look at her, and he diagnosed her as having an allergic reaction and took her in the back and put her on oxygen and watched her till the ambulance arrived to take her to the hospital. My mom is fine now thanks to our vet and his quick thinking.

Yes they are. You call them Dr. so-and-so... and you don't have to be a medical doctor to be called a doctor. If you get a doctorate in any program in school/grad school, then you get to be a doctor. I had a music teacher once who was a doctor...
