If you don't count their results against USC, the teams they've beaten are a combined 25-9 (overall records: Arkansas 5-1, Nebraska 6-1, Arizona 3-4, Washington State 4-3, Washington 4-3, Arizona State 3-3). OSU's victims are a combined 29-13 (overall records: Northern Illinois 4-3, Texas 6-1, Cincinnati 3-4, Penn State 4-3, Iowa 5-2, Bowling Green 4-3, Michigan State 3-4). In addition, all of USC's opponents are from BCS conferences, whereas Ohio State has two wins over MAC schools.

Ohio State is No.1. Don't worry about USC and all those computer polls they are wrong. Ohio State is number one and will be the whole year.

Why is Louisville in the top 10 when they havent won a single game over a decent team in years??? The BCS and all these rankings are BS. As a matter of fact...if there were a playoff system neither USC or Ohio St. would win the Natl Title...but since the are basically GIVEN the chance to play in the game one of them has to win. Although Michigan will beat Ohio St...by double digits they are much better much more complete team.
Whoa whoa whoa...Dante...are you stupid? The Pac-10 is awful and SOS is not taken into account OBVIOUSLY. USC has played NO ONE and they are barely getting by...Cal the second best team in the Pac-10 was absolutely demolished and embarassed by Tennessee who might be the 5th best team in the SEC. Cal is awful, SC is good but not natl champs good, and the rest of the Pac-10 couldnt beat half of the Big East teams....

the big problem with the SoS and computer rankings is that it doesn't account for a team getting better... take for example the razorbacks.. USC beat us (yes, i'm a hog) then we beat Auburn... the computer just basically rates arkansas at a single strength and doesn't take into account that we have improved a lot so far this season. the team that usc beat didn't look anything like the guys playing now.. they have matured a lot. but by the computer standards usc spanked a team that spanked the number 2 team which causes it to think of them as god like.

Because everything always falls back on human error, and human bias. A teams ranking has to start somewhere and it usually starts with sports writers hoping to not be wrong. Funny how computer rankings are usually in line with how coaches, and journalists rank them. Thats the way it works, its just an illusion so there isnt more talk about a playoff system in college football.

Strength of schedule. The computers take that into consideration a lot. The Pac-10 as a whole has the best strength of schedule of any conference, better than even the SEC.
