or how much should a 24 yr old intake of calories a day..?

all it means if the muscles are sore is that it was a good workout, unless they are really painful it shouldnt mean anything. Its like taking your body to the very very liomit, keep at it and your going to really get somewhere.

It means you worked some muscles that are not normally worked out very much. This is a good sign, and after a couple of days of working out, the soreness will go away. Keep up the good work.

It means that you have worked muscles that havnt been worked for a long time. It is a good sign, and the thing to do would be to keep it up. You will be amazed at how well you feel when you are fit. Plus mentally more alert. Calories, not too sure. Depends on how big you are. Check with the gym.
