Size 5 underwear...what does the 5 mean?

What is this a measure of? I know it can't be the diameter.

In womens clothing it means smaller than size 6 and larger than size 4, in that manufacturers system of sizes. Some clothing lines use odd numbers to indicate slimmer straighter body types and even numbers the more curvy. They are not related to any particular measurement (well there are measurements, obviously, but they are "trade secrets"). Then, also, some indulge in size inflation, so a person who last year fitted the size six, now will find the size four fits well.

Mens clothing uses numbers related to actual measurements, although the different lines may have different cuts, or styles, an eighteen neck will fit a man with an eighteen neck, a thirty-six waist is a thirty-six; it doesn't wake up one morning as a thirty-three.

size small is 5, medium is 6 and 7 is large

Well it can't be age, because my friend wore a size 1 or 2 in high school, and my sister in high school wears a 6.

I just bought underware yesterday and I too was confused, I wear size 10-12 pants, and I just bought size 6 underware and they fit fine. I would also like to know what they measure to figure out what size you are.

i don't know...underwear sizes confuse me too. im a size 8 normally, but in underwear i wear a size 6. hmmm.....

Depending on what section your in but it's normally a size small.
