determine what make and model it is, if you aren't sure and you don't want to open the PC chasis, go the manufacturer's website and see what the factory config is your machine and you can probably determine what sound card you have. Once you have that you need to obtain the drivers from the mfg, you can usually get them from their website or other sites like driverguide.com. then all you have to do is right click on my computer, select manage, go to device manager, find your sound card in the drop down list, and right click on it, select properties and you will see the option for update driver, select it and point the wizard to the location of the driver files that you have downloaded.

Check out what Sound Card you have from either your manual, or physically checking inside your computer!
Then go to the manufacturer's website and look for drivers to download for that sound card. Or alternatively write the name of the card and 'download drivers' on google for a match.

get into your device manager. [either control panel > system hardware (tab) > device manager (button) for windows XP or control panel > device manager for other windows versions] find your sound card in the list of devices. right-click on it and there should be an update driver choice. if you cannot find the driver on microsoft.com, try downloading the driver from the site for your card and try the update driver again.

Search for latest driver in manufacturer's website. Download it. That will be a executable. Just execute it, it will update driver files.

Firstly you must find out what sound card is installed on your computer, if it is build-in card, you have to find out what motherboard you have. After that you should download drivers from site of manufacturer of your sound card or motherboard.

first, you need to know what the manufacturer and model of your sound card is. for example, if your sound card is a soundblaster and the model is X-Fi, then you would go to www.soundblaster.com or www.creativelabs.com and look for the 'support' section on the website, look for downloads and grab the latest version for your operating system.
