No it was not love interest but it was showing the audience and making people realise that, how strange the world is, people do end up meeting at some point in their life again in a weird manner, when a guy (in this case Matt Dillon) can abuse someone sexually with so much ease (Matt used his police officer position to the best) he also turns up at some point in her life, (Thandie's Newtons) when she encounters an deadly accident , to save her and she definately flinches coz she recognises the person exploiting her and she wud have preferred to die instead of trusting him once again but Matt dillion looks at her and realises that how bad his behaviour was on the earlier occassion when he exploited her, that he is compelled to tell her that he'd not hurt her and that he'd not exploit her again, that just coz of the fear of death Thandie is helpless and trusts him, rather tries to, trust him once again...and u can see it clearly when Matt tries to free Thandie off her seat belt she is praying from within that let Matt not touch her and that he just removes her seat belt, the shot was directed in such a way that people wud expect Matt behaving in his typical exploiters role but he doesn't...that was the point for people to think of basic humanity.

No she was married to Terrence Howard's character. Matt Dillon saved her from the burning car; after sexually molesting her at an unnecessary traffic stop. Did you watch the movie? It was really good.

No. Matt just feels her up while 'frisking' her. That part in the movie really pissed me off!
