Bowling!! I like something that is a bit different and is an ice breaker, I'm not really into these romantic meals so for me it would be a guy cooking at home it's all about him making the effort and having a DVD that would be a great date also.

I think you should do something that allows you to talk - if you go to the cinema, you don't get to know one another.

Also, please please give the lady some idea of what to expect. I've had dates where I expected to go to dinner, so didn't eat before I went out, and then ending up starving because the date didn't include food. It's also difficult for a girl to decide what to wear if she doesn't have any idea whether she's going for a country walk or a trip to the opera.

Depends where you live but I would say somewhere unconventional but not cheap and a bit romantic. I know that sounds like a tall order but we have all been on dinner and drinks dates and the cinema. I personally adore men who like to do something a bit different and have an impulsive streak, who arent scared to drive to the beach to watch the sun rise at 5am.
Having said that it depends what type of gal you like, if you like the conventional type then a good restaurant is a winner.
Good luck.

How about to do something completely off the wall like a circus skills class.
My first ever boyfriend took me swimming and it was quite a nice experience (as well as being an unusual thing to do!)
We stayed together for 4 yrs
How about taking her to see a rock concert?

the best date i ever went on was a complete surprise.. he picked me up at my place and refused to let m know where we were going..
it ended up being a lovley meal followed by the theatre and drinks , a walk along the river and a gentlemanly good night kiss.
way better than getting half sloshed in a wine bar, and felling bad the next day.. and we got to talk which was cool.

for a nice meal...then onto a nice quiet pub for a few drinks...then maybe a walk if the weather is nice, i was going to mention the cinema, but we'd be both watching the film and not making much conversation, so forget the movie...then what ever after that....coffee maybe...and yes...it would be a coffee...nothing more...lol....
