You know, I went to a school that was majority black (4 white students in my grade) and a school that was majority white (3 black students in my grade). My experience was that the kids stuck to their own racial group, not because they were trying to be racist, but because they were drawn to what was most familiar to them - in that case someone who looked most like them in terms of the color of their skin. I think that the black awards and black stations are meeting this basic need to provide programming to people who by and large do not have characters on other stations to identify with. The stations and awards give equal opportunity that mainstream stations, that have been slowly working on equality, haven't met yet. So I don't think that this is fostering racism, but I think it would it we got rid of these stations where black people can express themselves since it is not being done very well on 200+ other channels.

No I do not. And yes there is white entertainment staions they are called NBC, ABC, FOX . As if white people dont have enough as it is. As a race you have practically dominated America,so please don't try to take away the very little that us black folks have. Now you tell me how often a black person has won a Emmy or a Oscar or a Golden Globe. If the rest of the world can't identify the acheviements of a race that day in and day out has to struggle and still manages to make it, than you know what whe are going to congratulate ourselves since no one else will.

You really don't watch tv do you? Look at CMT and AMC, I could go on. BET promotes things that white amercia have no interst in when it comes to our culture. And some of the shows on BET are right from "white" networks. Whenever I want to watch an old movie I can't turn to AMC; they always show Betty Davis, Mickey Rooney, and other actors and actreess in the 40's and 50's who are white; I only see African Americans running behind white folks making sure thier okay. It's nice to turn to BET and watch "my" old movies. Watch television a little more and maybe just maybe you'll understand; you may not like it,but you'll have a better understanding why "we" have ONE network that belongs to African Americans.

I totally agree ! I'm not racist at all cause I'm married outside my race & I know some of the radio stations here always talk about white people calling them crackers & so on & if we had an all white channel that talked about black people it would be closed down in hours of airing & NAACP would have Jesse Jackson all over it.

No. i do no longer agree. positioned the shoe on the different foot. If an American television station broadcast a decision by ability of an opposition baby-kisser to kill Bush or Obama, and known because it an "editorial," how long could that's in the previous the secret provider, the U.S. Marshals or the FBI could encompass the construction, and the abode figuring out to purchase community have been given themselves yet another channel? I truthfully have my problems with Chavez, yet you are able to desire to view memories by ability of the U.S. company-run media with somewhat skepticism. below any actual looking criminal doctrine he has the right to close 'em down appropriate now. yet he's purely threatening. he's so plenty greater actual looking than maximum U.S. liberals and conservatives. . .

when white people are enslaved for hundreds of years, then you get your channel
whats your prob, if u dont like, dont watch
Its easy for you to say that i dont know my ancestors pain, and address me on other questions. I have an open email so i guess your just a *****. Im 655 years old, and a former slave so you can suck it. If you dont want my opinion dont ask!
Thanks for the bullshit though, I laugh at you
this is what she wrote me on another question
ok first of all i don't watch MTV or BET or VH1 or even CMT i like music all kinds. and i like all kinds of people. BUT what you said enslaving was wrong. i don't know how old you are but i can tell that by that statement you are nieve. don't throw words like that around. you don't know the pain your ancestors felt. you should be happy that our world has evolved where EVERYONE has a right to live, speak, learn, pray, or not pray. you were given more than your ancestors were. be greatful

No it doesn't actually BET came about when MTV refused to play black music videos.......It does not promote racism....the show was invented to have proper representation that wasn't available at the time on MTV.....MTV has just warmed up to black music on their show......

Here we go again...
There are so many billionaire companies/organisations/conglomerates,e.t.c. with whites at the helm of affairs. So i guess the blacks want a piece of theirs but with distinction. Bla bla bla, whatever the title, racism in all aspects of life should NOT be tolerated.
