It's a very general thing, so it could be symptom of any number of psychological conditions, or none at all. Most people have peculiarities of thought that are counter-productive, it's only considered a 'condition' when it significantly interferes with your life.
If you believe this fear is irrational and harming your well-being, there are lots of cognitive and behavioural techniques to help you overcome it. If you have the time/money a visit to a therapist to discuss this would be very helpful. If not, do some reading on Neuro-linguistic programming and cognitive psychology generally. There are a lot of simple and effective exercises to help focus your thoughts in ways that are more beneficial to your well-being.

Hi,
I too suffer from this, it ranges from feeling that I must lock all the children in the car when driving in case they fall out and worrying that every headache is a tumour to having a knotted feeling in my stomach that something bad is about to happen, thankfully the latter happens less often. My friends (who also suffer) and I have discussed this at length and have come up with some possible explanations, that it may be inherited (my Mum is a born worrier), that it is a sign of a nervous disposition, that we are born pessimists, that we are realists, to mention a few.
I have tried different ways to combat it but to no avail and now I think it is an inherent part of my psyche, knowing you are a bit neurotic makes it a bit more manageable.
My advice would be to accept you are like this and when the doom comes over you acknowledge that it is you not impending circumstances making you feel this way.
On the down side it gets worse when you have kids and threfore other people to think of and be responsible for, although I think it makes you a much more cautious and therefore better parent.
Be happy :-)

Not abnormal psychology - Para Psychology. There is a build in warning system, some listen, some don't, I know this from personal experience, I did not listen to the impending doom feeling and left for a short trip I had taken hundred of times, I ended up in a car crash, it was snowing at the time, then the ambulance who picked me up, crashed too. I ended up in intensive care, it took months to recover. Listen to you feelings, but make sure you learn to discern or you end up house bound and that would be much worse..

I have had this feeling so much in my life I wish it would go away. I do have alot of health problems seems I have been dealt a full deck of bad genes. Also I was very severly abused growing up and i think this adds to it... I have had bad things happen as an adult also. Mine is not so mild of a symptom because I worry so much all the time about everything I don't seem to have down time to rest my brain. My feelings have roots and usually everyones does. Maybe it is a bad case of anxiety they have medicine to calm this disorder down personally I take enough meds my liver doesn't need another to filter but you might want to talk to your DR about anxiety attacks thats what is sounds like to me

a million. you're precise. All we are able to do for my area is verify we are out of debt or paying down our debt as quickly as accessible. 2. precise lower back, yet there at the instant are no means sources that are as useful as oil, and the so-talked approximately as unconventional oils are the two over-hyped (shale oil) or so uneconomical that they at the instant are not something yet a pipe dream (i.e. oil shale and tar sands). What we ought to do is means down - pass to a small properly insulated homestead that's much less costly to warmth and cool, verify that's close (5 miles or much less) to a lot of employment opportunities and centers. provide up driving a 2-ton motor vehicle - that's not suitable no rely if that's gasoline or electric powered - all that means comes from fossil fuels. 3. precise lower back. the respond, as quickly as lower back, is to decrease your means desires. commute by using bicycle, get a clever thermostat, insulate your homestead. The decrease your means bill, the extra you're doing to remedy the project. 4. If we do all the above (issues that we ought to do whether there's no subject), our grandkids could have reason to thank us. If we proceed with corporation as known, if we are fortunate, they are going to be ineffective from infants illnesses and malnutrition before they comprehend who bought them down the river. of direction, we are going to in all probability be ineffective first besides - poverty, malnutrition etc., do not prefer the old.

I used to feel that way too, always expecting the worst and feeling a horrible sense of dread. I was always worrying about everything. But seriously, I found God and now there's nothing else to worry about- I know He will keep me in His hands and that I have nothing to fear. I'm a happier person and I have an amazing inner peace- no matter what happens, I can always look to Him in prayer and be comforted. I think if you pick up a Bible and read you'll be encouraged. God loves you and wants you to accept Him so that He can guide you.
You're in my prayers and I wish you the best!

I get this and its horrible. Best way of dealing with it is too keep busy. Strangely enough I often suffer with this when I'm on holiday. People think I'm weird 'cos I don't like holidays much. I think some of us are more suceptible to this kind of thing. We're the kind of people who always think of our cup as being half empty, rather than half full.

This happens to me sometimes, I call it life. I learned to talk myself out of these feelings and now they happen less frequently. Don't let it get you down and whatever you do, stay away from god like the first person who answered this said. Then your sense of doom will deepen.
