Whilst there is greed in human nature that is not understood, will there ever be peace as a reality? Is that your question?
'Live in peace' is an 'idea' abstracted from the reality of endless suffering and killing. It has no reality. As long as peace is a theory or a concept or an intellectual argument it has no real meaning in our lives.
Are you greedy?
Even a little bit?
Go into it,
why are you?
What is the source of greed?
If you do all this then you will answer your own question.
Find out. Learn. Observe what greed is doing.

I think it is a great question - greed is indeed one of the important reasons why people can't live in peace with each other.
Greed is not a mere desire. Greed is the reverse of generosity. Even when you have more than enough, you want still more - that is what is greed. This results in the powerful people oppressing the others - power can be due to higher intelligence, wealth, position, whatever. The same happens amongst nations too.
Why do we want more even when we have enough or more than enough? Because we never feel that whatever we have is enough. Uncertainty of future makes us feel insecure. This deep rooted sense of insecurity makes us greedy, because we are always worried that what we have may be lost in future. And our actions out of greed deprives some others, who then feel endangered and react to save themselves in various ways. This increases the overall feeling of insecurity further. This vicious cycle goes on feeding itself.
The world is indeed caught in this vicious cycle - both individuals as well as societies and nations, increasing the wedge between the 'have's and the 'havenot's - one of the primary causes for unrest, revolt, fights, war etc.

Human nature inculcates greed as its component & is never satisfied with what he has. As for no peace in this world religion, economic differences & a desire for supremacy are responsible. We believe in religion but not in it's most important principle that God is one. The feuds b/w the nations is an example of supremacy caused due to economic status. But don't worry as we the present generation though indiscipined believe in ourselves & hence threre will be greed but not peace.

They like to drive the car in reverse direction, putting all others on the road in danger.
In order to have money, they have to do something.. to be able to do something, they try to become something... that is how peace is endangered. The other way, first become a peaceful person, good sense will happen, then do something, it will be useful, and anything useful will bring rewards, according to its use( now , without display of greed also ).

For the same reason you (I am guessing) can't live with greed.
Every human brain doesn't work the same way.
You may think greed is wrong, someone may think it is right.
Buddha thought killing living creatures is wrong, some think it is right, while I think it is neither.
You can never look at things from the only one point of view, and conclude that all other points of views are wrong.

We have to start with ourselves first, we have to question if our free will (selfishness) is important.to us. (I will pursue what I want no matter what and I will remove what I don't want.) If we are doing this, then we belong to the greedy people that you are referring to. Do you think we are ready to face this reality, that we are the same, we worship our free will (selfishness) one way or another. I think everybody is biting one another. We call it survival of the fittest. The bigger and the stronger (most selfish) rules our world, the cause of sorrow.

We can not control the desire.
Desire is more powerful than intellect.
Intellect is more powerful than mind.
Mind is more powerful than senses
We can not go against our senses.
How can we win the desire.
We appear pure till we get that chance and speak all morals.
However there are very few in the world who are really strong.
So the picture you projected is correct.

The truth is they do not acknowledge God and his authority. God is sovereign. He said in his tenth commandment, "Thou shalt not covet."
Coveting is a form of greediness. There are many kinds.
Even if this is the only sin they commit it will still separate them from God. They need a Saviour. They need Jesus.
