A handicapped parking space is usually situated nearer the destination, for the convenience of those that are handicapped, and I fully support them and would never dream of parking in one.
A handicapped toilet is normally right next door to the normal toilets, and apart from being slightly larger, there is no difference. If there is a queue for the regular toilet, I would not hesitate to use the other one.
And so what if a handicapped person has to wait 3-4 minutes until I've finished. They'd have to wait 10-15 minutes if another handicapped person was inside.

There are situations in life where a person is temporarily handicapped, while not being registered as disabled, so not officially entitled to use general facilities for handicapped people, such as handicapped parking spaces. I had no compunction about using the handicapped toilet, for example, when I was struggling about with both feet in plaster! I think it might be permissible for a mother with her child in a pram to use the disabled toilet, to avoid having to desert the pram while using the toilet.
By the same token, there are some people who are registered as disabled who don't need the handicapped toilet. Why, for instance, would you need it just because you were deaf? Or epileptic?
I think it all boils down to common sense and one should not be too legalistic on this one. Although I do feel strongly about people who are not registered as disabled using the specially allocated parking spaces, which are set aside to give ease of access to the facilities concerned.

I'm sure that it technically isn't illegal - eg the supermarket car park isn't part of the national highway, it's private property, so it's only their guidelines but....parking in a disabled space means that a disabled person can't park there and will need to find another space that may be harder for them to access, whereas if someone else is using a disabled toilet, unless the person in there really has a problem, they can just wait for you to finish, like everyone else has to if a toilet is in use! Also in some places, eg restaurents, there might only be two toilets, and if one is in use and the disabled one is free, does it really make sense for you to have to wait and use the 'normal' toilet, esp if there aren't even any disabled people around?

handicap parking spaces are spaces put aside specifically for the use of handcapped people, Handicap toilets are ones that are suitable, but not exclusively, for use by handicapped people. There are some that need a specific RADAR key to use, and those are for handicapped people only.

but is it OK for you to be using a handicapped toilet?
the bays for disabled are put there so they don't have to walk so far to the store but they are abused by people using the blue badge when the person the badge has been given for is not in the car.
did you know that the person whose badge it is cannot sit in the car while you go shopping its in the hand book you get when given your blue badge

When you you use the toilet you spend there far less time than your car would spend in the parking space (hopefully, if everything is OK with you).

toilet is the destination
you can't bring your car with your butt
but you can bring your butt to the toilet
do you really think guys/gals will deny a handicapped person the use of a toilet if they see them in need?
unlikely
but yeah it sucks to see rows of empty parking spaces all near the front and people having to drive around looking for 'emptys'

Did anybody mention the fact that the disabled person has to pay for the badge - whatever its colour - that entitles him to park in the 'disabled driver' bay?
