I think you can stay for a short term regardless of how much money you have....obviously you will need to take your passaport with you and ask for a Visa...

You do not need a visa, provided that you can show that:
- you want to visit the UK for no more than six months
- you intend to leave the UK at the end of your visit, and
- you have enough money to support yourself and live in the UK without working or needing any help from public funds.
A return ticket is the easiest way of demonstrating the first and second points. For the financial part, you could use bank statements, payslips, travellers cheques, or some such evidence that you can support yourself during your visit.

Welcome to our climate bring a fur coat & plenty of jumpers as it`s too expensive to run the gas fires these days now then.Passport,visa,injections,money,address to stay,telephone number of home in S.A.enough money to take care of yourself at £30 per day, allowing for bits & pieces, guess you won`t be in London too dear.Have a nice break Oh no drugs & no fire arms OK?

A return ticket, as long as you can prove that you are only here for a holiday then they should have no problems letting you in.
