The answer is, almost certainly.
How anyone in the UK can see this as of any benefit to them is beyond comprehension. Turkey is part of the developing world, has an appalling human rights record with regard to the Kurds and is still illegally occupying Cyprus. On that island, only recently, the Turkish thwarted the possibility of the whole of Cyprus being reunited and joining the EU as a separate entity.
There was another question on her about asylum seekers, and I made the point that, by sending them to the UK, other member states (where they first landed) were in breach of international law. You only have to visit Spain, Greece and France to see that, whereas we obey European law to the letter, those countries most certainly do not.
By allowing countries like Turkey (and Romania and Bulgaria) to join, all we are doing is attracting even more foreign nationals to our already overcrowded island and making a huge debt for ourselves, because you can bet your last Euro that these countries are going to be hugely subsidised by the EU - and that, my friends, means your tax money.

Britain is keen for Turkey to join but France and Austria are implacably opposed to the idea and will use their vetoes to prevent it ever happening. Britain's reasons have more to do with opposition to a federal Europe than a fondness of the Turks. France and Austria cannot contemplate an EU with an Islamic state as its largest member. So, in short, no, not for the foreseeable future.

Under political pressure to do what is 'right' (not intelligent or practical) Turkey will eventually join the EU. Unfortunately, this will be to the economic detriment of other member states.

Probably if they admit to the Armenian genocide and improve their human rights records. The other European countries are very afraid of an influx of cheap labor and a Muslim majority but eventually, they will want to enlarge again.

Not until they sort out all their human rights violations and integrate the Kurds. They've made some progress in this direction in recent years but they've still got a long way to go.
