the protein in the fish helps keep the sugar level elevated and it helps prevent the sugar level from dropping to fast...it ultimately stabilizes your sugar level so it does not drop abruptly....other food like some carbs will cause your sugar level to drop abruptly that's when u get the shaky, sweaty feeling ,,,,protein is a good way to stabilize blood sugar problems

I started taking a fish oil tab daily (since I absolutely hate seafood)upon the advise of my doctor. After taking it daily for a year (as well as making some changes in my diet) my cholesterol dropped 30 points without the use of medication. It has no effect on your sugar level - only cholesterol.

From research I dug up at the National Library of Medicine:
REVIEWER'S CONCLUSIONS: Fish oil supplementation in type 2 diabetes lowers triglycerides, may raise LDL cholesterol (especially in hypertriglyceridemic patients on higher doses of fish oil) and has no statistically significant effect on glycemic control. Trials with vascular event or mortality defined endpoints are needed.

A second study:
CONCLUSION: A high intake of fish oil moderately increases blood glucose and decreases insulin sensitivity in persons with type 2 diabetes without hypertriacylglycerolemia and alters carbohydrate and fat utilization in a time-dependent manner.

There are 454 more citations available to peruse as well.

most fish types contain Omega -3 fatty acids which help lower chloestrol. cholestrol is formed when you eat too much fat or sugar. ultimately even sugar gets converted to fat(glucose/subcutaneous fat) which is stored in your body.

in short fish is good for health & a good means to lower your cholestrol level
