What's wrong??

Question

Upon logging onto windows, it takes a long time (2/3mins) to load the user interface. Any ideas as to what could be wrong??

go to run.
type msconfig and enter.
go to services tab and disable all serives except microsoft services
go to startup tab and disable all startup programs.
now reboot. if this takes lesser time than usual, then the problem is with loading all the startup programs while logging in.

You probably have spyware, adware or a virus. Or a lot of background programs starting up. OR, your network interface is having difficulty getting an IP.

Do you have a lot of icons at the desktop? Do you set a lot of programs to have auto-run during boot up? For example, anti-virus software will run during boot up.
