Defrag the PC once a month, run the disk cleanup once every 2 weeks, clear out old system restore points to conserve disk space. That should boost up 7% of your PC performance.
A free program I reccomend is(assuming you have XP) is :Tuneup XP" this is the BEST program out there to optimize PC ferformance and more! (And it doesn't cause PC problems and saves backups of the pc within the program so its easy to restore your pc(if operable) back to an earlier setting before the pc issue occured.
Hope this helps!

Defrag it first then run CCleaner.
CCleaner is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware! :)

the best wway to get optimum performance it is to use it in an optimum way.
firstly defragment it.
then remove the softwares which you do not use. don't use more than two types of multimedia softwares. you can also try disk clean up.
install only those softwares which you frequently use.
believe me it works. just give it a shot

i have been operating song-up Utilities 2007 which has been operating advantageous for me. regrettably, the perfect element you would possibly want to do is eliminate software that is residing in memory throughout favourite operation. oftentimes, when I get my hands on a sparkling computer, I spend about an hour or 2 getting each and every of the hot Microsoft updates and eliminating something the producer put in. the perfect perfect element you would possibly want to do is get rid of residing house windows Vista and replace it with residing house windows XP SP2. i might want to signify no man or woman use Vista yet, yet there must be someone that permits you to fix each and every of the insects and function call for for drivers for each of the hardware accessible it is no longer supported.
