No it was Harry Chapin, once I won $100 bucks on a bet about this, I'm a big Cat Stevens fan so I knew he has never sang it!!

i become raised on Cat Stevens. My dad enjoyed him. each Sunday morning we could hear to "Morning Has broken" till the album become broken. Then we could dance around to "Banapple gas." I guess Yusef Islam could be a reliable call on your cat. :)

as far as we know of hary chapinn did cats in the cradle-- masde it too a number one hit-- we dont recall, cat stevens cutting this versions---denvers, klax radio---
