There is nothing wrong with taking a year off to decide what to do. Overall, you do get better jobs with a college degree, but you should be ready to do the work. Take time off to clear your head, and make a direction for yourself.

Education is worth real money in the workplace, no doubt about it. According to the latest U.S. Census Bureau figures, the median income for high school graduates is $20,431. College graduates earn a good deal more: $37,782.
Multiply the difference over 50 years and you get a number that I'm sure will impress your third grade audience: $867,550.
Jobs that require a college education generally bring in salaries that are two to three times the salaries of jobs that do not. Yet even when people land the same positions as workers with more education, they tend to be paid less.
Retail store managers with a college degree, for example, earn an average of $45,362, compared to $39,769 for managers without college, according to PayScale Inc., a Seattle-based provider of compensation data.

its not always true youre offered a better job, you shouldnt have to be forced.
take a year or two off and work, get out in the work force and learn about the real world, taxes, income and expenses. this will make u manage ur time in college/uni better (well thats happened with me) and you should also learn to stick with whatever problems in the world u face.
and i believe uni cant teach that no matter how they try, nothing beats the real thing.
alternatively, try doing a trade 'plumbing' etc.. thats a skill you have and can use and nothing can ever take that away!

Look around you and see the people that had no skills, they learn nothing and are struggling to make end meet, changing jobs constantly or receiving the minimum salary.
Is this what you want for your future?
In the beggining you have to make sacrifices, be a book worm and get knowledge on what you like to be, because if you like something, that is no work, that is fun and you will make money on it.
By the time your friends are out playing, you will be roaming the books, and when they get to roam the streets looking for jobs, themselves, you will enjoining the money you earn with the fun job you have.
So go to the U.

Education is always an asset. It comes handy when you are in distress. If you miss, chances are high that you rue your 'mistake'. So bear it for few more years. Education is not like a pleasnat stroll in park, it requires hard work. It shall pay you later.

Only if you are interested in academics, go there, otherwise try some technical course of shorter duration.
