Sting is not retired. He is actually wrestling in TNA's pay per view against Jeff Jarrett for the NWA heavyweight title in the next couple of weeks - The interesting thing about the match is if Sting loses he must leave TNA (basically retire since he states he will never work for the WWE) chances are he will win the match against Jarrett in the PPV and continue wrestling.

Yes he retired, but is making his big come back soon. They just did an interview with him last week about his retirement and why and the book he wrote about it.
